Motivational Needs Questionnaire

Motivational Needs Assessment

Exploring Achievement, Affiliation, Power, and Autonomy / Independence

Motivation

Welcome to the Assessment

This classroom assessment explores four motivational dimensions: Achievement, Affiliation, Power, and Autonomy / Independence. Achievement, Affiliation, and Power are based on McClelland's Theory of Needs. Autonomy / Independence is included as an additional dimension reflecting a person's preference for freedom, choice, and self-direction - it is not part of McClelland's original theory.

Take your time to answer honestly. This is a teacher-created self-reflection tool, not a validated psychological instrument - see the note near your results for more on how to interpret your scores.
